Khinkali – Georgian Dumplings with Meat, Cheese, Mushroom, Potato

Georgian steampunk recipes — classic dishes reimagined with storytelling and flavor.

Intro/Story

In the rattling galley of a steam‑powered airship, gears hiss and copper pipes hum as dough is folded into intricate parcels. Khinkali, the Georgian dumpling, becomes a mechanical marvel — each pleated pouch a vessel of flavor, filled with meat, cheese, mushrooms, or potatoes, floating like cogs in the great machine of taste.

Khinkali are traditional Georgian dumplings, famous for their twisted tops and juicy fillings. The classic version is filled with spiced meat and broth, but variations include cheese, mushrooms, and potatoes. They are eaten by hand, with the broth inside carefully sipped before consuming the dumpling. Khinkali are a cornerstone of Georgian cuisine, reflecting both rustic tradition and culinary artistry.
